The Cunard British Film Festival, presented by Palace, will return to Cinema Paradiso, Windsor Cinema and Luna on SX this month with a standout selection of prestige film and box office hits from the British Isles.
The festival will open on Thursday, October 26 with British food, drinks and live entertainment ahead of the Australian premiere of actor Andy Serkis’ (The Lord of the Rings, Planet of the Apes) directorial debut BREATHE, which comes straight from opening the 61st BFI London Film Festival. Starring Oscar nominated Andrew Garfield (Hacksaw Ridge, The Amazing Spider-Man) and Claire Foy (The Crown) BREATHE is the inspiring true story of a couple who refuse to give up in the face of a devastating illness.
Windsor Cinema will play host to a rather fashionable evening on Friday, October 27 with a Cunard British Film Festival special event screening of MANOLO: THE BOY WHO MADE SHOES FOR LIZARDS, an in-depth portrait of the renowned shoe designer Manolo Blahnik.
We will round out the festival with a special Closing Night event featuring pre-screening drinks and live entertainment and the premiere of FINDING YOUR FEET, a heart-warming and hilarious comedy starring Imelda Staunton, Timothy Spall and Joanna Lumley that proves it's never too late to start again.
Other highlights include: TULIP FEVER, based on the international bestselling novel by Deborah Moggach (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) and starring Academy Award winners AliciaVikander and Christoph Waltz, and featuring acclaimed British actress Judy Dench, Jack O’Connell, comedian Zach Galifianakis and model turned actress Cara Delevingne; ON CHESIL BEACH, starring Saoirse Ronan (Brooklyn, BFF 15) and Billy Howle (Dunkirk) in the adaptation of Ian McEwan’s unforgettable novel about a young couple on their honeymoon; and the highly anticipated and delightful GOODBYE CHRISTOPHER ROBIN, a rare glimpse into the relationship between beloved children’s author A. A. Milne (Gleeson) and his son Christopher Robin, who inspired ‘Winnie the Pooh’, starring Domhnall Gleeson (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, About Time) and Australian actress Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street, Suicide Squad).
