Synopsis

Australian Premiere

Chien 51

A gripping thriller that plunges you into a Paris you don’t know (yet).

In a futuristic Paris divided by social classes, an artificial intelligence named ALMA oversees society. This supreme AI, a true statistical superpower, uses the police and an army of drones to enforce the law and track potential criminals even before they can act. From the Île de la Cité to the suburbs, from the privileged to the forgotten, no one can escape the reach of this intelligence that governs every aspect of daily life.

When its creator is assassinated, Zem (Gilles Lellouche, Beating Hearts, AF FFF25), a jaded cop from Zone 3, is forced to team up with Salia (Adèle Exarchopoulos, Beating Hearts, AF FFF25), a brilliant investigator from Zone 2. Together, they dive into an investigation that takes them into the most secret corners of Paris, where the murder could reveal the dark secrets of the system they serve… and shake the foundations of this new world.

In the tradition of anticipation cinema, Chien 51 explores our relationship with technology, social control, and inequality.
