Wednesday Night Horror: Creature from the Black Lagoon
Book Tickets
Synopsis
Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954) is a gorgeously pulpy slice of mid-century monster cinema that became a camp-horror classic almost by accident. The film follows a team of scientists traveling deep into the Amazon, where they discover a mysterious prehistoric amphibious humanoid, a “missing link” connecting humans and fish. The scientists plan to capture it for later study, but the Creature has plans of his own, and has set his sights on the lead scientist’s beautiful fiancée, Kay, developing a flair for dramatic entrances from beneath dark, rippling waters. A deliciously earnest cocktail of rubber-suit spectacle, melodramatic romance, and looming theremin-scored suspense.
