Synopsis
Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson), a writer and recovering alcoholic, takes a caretaker job at the remote Overlook Hotel, bringing along his wife Wendy (Shelley Duvall) and son Danny (Danny Lloyd), whose psychic “shining” allows him to see the hotel’s terrifying past. As winter isolates the family, Jack descends into madness, while the hotel’s supernatural forces tighten their grip. The extended cut adds scenes that deepen character interactions, showcase Danny’s visions, and amplify Kubrick’s meticulous build-up of dread, making one the greatest horror movies of all time even more immersive.
