Synopsis

Sidney Lumet brings Agatha Christie's definitive whodunnit to life with an all-star ensemble and meticulous period style in Murder on the Orient Express (1974). On a snowbound luxury train, detective Hercule Poirot (Albert Finney) is forced to untangle a murder where every passenger is a suspect—and no one is quite who they seem. Lauren Bacall, Ingrid Bergman, Sean Connery, Anthony Perkins, and Vanessa Redgrave are just some of the stars who lend their immense talent to the cast.

Playing like a golden-age puzzle box, it's elegant, theatrical, and delightfully self-aware in its parade of red herrings, culminating in one of the genre’s most famously moral conclusions.

The New Yorker
[A] terrifically entertaining super-valentine to a kind of whodunit that may well be one of the last fixed points in our inflationary universe.
